The engine in your car is basically one big air pump. Air is sucked in and blown out constantly at a high rate of speed through various ports/airways within the intake and exhaust systems. From the manufacturer these ports are very restrictive robbing you of fuel mileage and performance/driveability.

Porting involves taking these "airways" and increasing the size, shape as well as adding a smooth surface to promote high speed air flow. Remember, the easier air flows in and out of your engine/"air pump" the less it has to work. In turn giving you more available overall power and performance, while burning less fuel and adding longevity!
